About Taos First Baptist Church
Taos First Baptist Church is a Bible-believing congregation located in the heart of Taos, New Mexico. We are committed to clear, literal teaching of the Scriptures and to helping people understand and apply God’s Word without the filter of denominational tradition or theological trends.
Our Doctrine
We do not hold to a man-made creed or denominational confession. Our creed is the Bible. When we want to know what we believe, we open the Scriptures and search them carefully. We hold to the inerrancy and authority of the King James Version, believing it faithfully preserves the accurate underlying texts. Our theology is dispensational, recognizing the distinct message revealed through the Apostle Paul for the Body of Christ today, while honoring the entire biblical record from Genesis to Revelation.
We emphasize personal Bible study, verse-by-verse teaching, and rightly dividing the Word of Truth to distinguish Israel’s prophetic program from the mystery revealed to Paul. We believe salvation is by grace through faith alone in the finished work of Christ, apart from works, law-keeping, or religious systems.
Our History
Taos First Baptist Church began in 1934 when a small group of Baptists in Taos gathered with a desire to plant a church rooted in the Bible. They soon purchased a home at our current location, meeting in the living room for worship and study. In the mid-1940s, the congregation built the present adobe auditorium entirely by hand. That same adobe structure continues to host our services to this day, standing as a testimony to their faith and perseverance.
Over the decades, the church has remained small but steadfast—holding fast to biblical teaching and welcoming both local residents and those joining from around the world through our online ministry.
A Worldwide Outreach
While we have always cherished our role in the Taos community, Taos First Baptist Church embarked on a new journey in 2015, launching a worldwide online ministry. Through platforms like YouTube and Worshify.com, our teaching now reaches far beyond these walls.
In the past year alone, our online ministry has connected with viewers from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Philippines, and even as far as Norway and Kenya. With more than 210,800 views and 57,600 hours of watch time, this outreach has touched lives globally. To put it into perspective, that’s like one person watching continuously for 6.5 years! Even more impressively, this ministry reached over 57,000 unique viewers, a testament to the far-reaching influence of God’s Word.
Through this outreach, Taos First Baptist Church is proud to call itself America’s Greatest Tiny Church—a ministry with global influence, sharing the gospel and rightly dividing the Word of Truth with a family of believers united around the world.
